We focus on efficiency, clear paperwork, and convenient access. With walk-in options, same-day scheduling, and flexible hours, we aim to keep your DOT exam quick and easy.

What Is a DOT Physical?

A DOT physical is a mandatory medical exam required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). It ensures that commercial drivers are healthy enough to operate large vehicles safely and without risk to themselves or others.

After passing the exam, you’ll receive:

  • A Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC)

  • Documentation valid for up to 24 months (or shorter if medical conditions require monitoring)

What to Expect During Your DOT Exam

Our certified examiner evaluates all FMCSA-required health categories, including:

Vision Screening

Assesses visual acuity and peripheral vision to support safe driving performance.

Hearing Testing

Evaluates hearing ability, with or without hearing aids, to meet DOT standards.

Blood Pressure & Vital Signs

Monitors cardiovascular health and overall fitness for duty.

Urinalysis

Screens for underlying medical conditions such as diabetes; not used for drug testing

Comprehensive Medical Examination

Includes evaluation of:

  • Heart and lung function

  • Neurological status

  • Spine, joints, and extremities

  • Mental health conditions

  • Surgical history and current medications

At Drivon Medical, we provide a thorough, professional, and respectful DOT exam experience focused on safety, compliance, and efficiency.

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Current medication list

  • Glasses or contact lenses (if you use them)

    • Diabetes

    • Heart conditions

    • Sleep apnea

    • Recent surgeries

    • Any long-term conditions

Common Conditions That May Require Additional Documentation

Some health conditions do not automatically disqualify you, but they may need extra documentation:

  • High blood pressure
